I updated my PSE to 13 and thought all of my previous tags were lost. when I look at the properties of a individual photo in PSE the tag is there.. Do you know how I can bring in my tags to PSE 13 so I can continue to use them?

I updated my PSE to 13 and thought all of my previous tags were lost. when I look at the properties of a individual photo in PSE the tag is there.. Do you know how I can bring in my tags to PSE 13 so I can continue to use them? The organizer keeps the tags in its catalogs. By default, the tags you enter in the catalog are not 'written' to the files metadata headers but you can choose to write them from the catalog to the files. When you 'import' media files from your drives and folders, the tags are added to the catalog in an 'imported keywords' category. The problem is that you can't update a catalog with already present tags in your files, that works only at import time. The way it works in the organizer when you upgrade versions is a catalog conversion. When you install the new version, the organizer scans for the current catalog and asks you to create a new catalog translated from the old one. Question: is the PSE13 version installed on the same computer? If yes, you go to the menu File >> Manage catalogs and use the 'convert' button. If not, the recommended process is to use the older version to save a full backup on an external drive and to restore to the new one. That restores both the media files library and the catalog. Then you can convert the catalog with the new Elements version. Depending on your situation, we can guide you in more details.
