Lately I have been having various issues and problems with various programs and I think (am almost positive) that I have found the culprit.
Some weeks ago, some Adobe program or other installed Creative Cloud; a part of this "Cloud" business is a hidden executable file called "Core Sync", which I am led to understand runs in the background all the time the computer is running.
Creative Cloud does show up as a removable program in the Control Panel; I have no thoughts of ever using this; and, from what I have read, it is considered to be malware by many; if I uninstall Creative Cloud, will this affect the usability of Elements 12 or Lightroom ? (I know it won't bother E7); will uninstalling Creative Cloud get rid of that Core Sync business ?
I finally discovered this Core Sync when I was trying to move some folders and kept getting an alert saying some such or other Core Sync file was open.
In "Programs", I also noticed a bunch of other Adobe junk that I did not install; Adobe Air, Adobe Flash Player 25 ActiveX, Adobe Flash Player PPAPI, Adobe Reader XI, and Adobe Shockwave Player 12.2; other than the Reader, which I never use, I have no idea just what, if any, benefit all these programs provide.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the link, Sepiana; if I understand correctly, Adobe Air links to the "Help" files, which I probably should use a lot more than I do.
Everything I have read on internet searches for Creative Cloud describe it as some very expensive subscription program; however, I never spent a penny and something labeled as Adobe Creative Cloud has installed and is constantly running in the background.
I am fairly certain it showed up when I installed Lightroom a few weeks ago; I want rid of it, but can find no concrete information as to how it being gone might affect using Lightroom (which I have not as yet taken time to actually investigate; I have digiKam and it seems to be way ahead of Lightroom for my needs; this old dog is trying to learn too many new tricks at the same time and it gets confusing)
I may just uninstall it and see what happens.

Hi Buckskin The link below that again is also very informative about Creative Cloud. Hope this helps. Thanks; I will read through those links tomorrow and maybe I will have a better understanding. I appreciate the help. I did notice in Programs that the Creative Cloud install date coincides with that of Lightroom.

I am no expert . . . but I would suggest you don't jump the gun and uninstall the CC app. You don't mention getting error messages. So, it doesn't look like you have a corrupted copy of this app. Your problem seems to be with the Core Sync.

When you installed Lightroom, did you get a Creative Cloud icon on the Taskbar? Or on the desktop? If so, follow the instructions in this thread to disable Core Sync. (I have Lightroom CC + Photoshop CC; I have such icon on my Taskbar.)
How can I disable core sync and updaters? (See post #3.)
Please note that there is some disagreement concerning this issue. (See post #4.) However, you may want to give those instructions a try to see if they will solve the problems you said you are having.

Thanks, Sepiana. This is just one of numerous articles that came up with a Google Search of "Core Sync" www.file.net/process/coresync.exe.htmlI did acquire a desktop icon, but no taskbar icon; I also got a new icon/destination in Explorer "Favorites" I need to dig deeper and find and disable whatever Adobe has put in my system that is allowing all of these other Adobe programs to mysteriously appear; I think whatever it is piggybacked in with Lightroom; I never get any warning, I just look in Programs and there will be another Adobe application that was not there before.

Just be careful you don't delete something that is needed by either Lightroom or Elements. As far as I know, Adobe is not in the habit of installing "piggybacked" programs. There is a reason why you are seeing these programs.
I cannot look into this issue more because I have a CC subscription. I don't want to mislead you. I would suggest you post on the Adobe forums, listing all these "extra" programs, and asking for their advice.
