Feel free to join in and design a card. Any sort of card. I have chosen to do a card for a friend who has moved home. This is the front and back cover and when folded the card will be 5x5inches. I used Rosie H's kit - Shabby Blue. Click to see it larger size.

Just a hint for those card makers out there -
Use matte coated cardstock to make cards. The graphics really stand out on your card - the result looks more like a card rather than a photo (that is, if you would use photo paper).
Matte coating makes the ink stay on top of the paper - no wicking.
Double sided matte coated cardstock used to be available - so your graphics inside look good, too - but even if you don't have double sided - having the front of your card print beautifully, is the most important.

If you want to do one sided printing - using standard 8.5 x11 cardstock/paper - (the finished size will be 4.25 by 5.5)- use this template to design your card. There are envelopes available for this size card. If you do a folded card, a regular sheet of quality bond paper will make a nice card. The firmness of the card comes from it being folded. No need to have cardstock, then. I do still recommend matte coated paper. Draw lines to divide into four so it's easier to figure out where to put your verse and design. The lines should be on their own layers - DELETE the line layers after you design your card - otherwise the lines will print.

Image of one Morningglory plus brushes (no genuine scrapping elements, sorry) Half-Fold card, folded 8.5 x5.5 Center line not printed, only to indicate fold lines I like to have a design on the inside, too, and write over it with vividly colored ink.

Beautiful, Beautiful card.....I love how the background texture works with the wreath.......are they both part of the kit? Helen the background is a paper from the kit. I constructed the wreath from a combination of four flower clusters from the kit and added a few individual flowers from the kit to fill in any gaps between the clusters.

Rita - I like the concept of the pattern inside the card - it adds that special extra touch. Beautiful card.

To save ink, I have been keeping my design on a transparent background, so the cardstock itself provides the background color - which, with most matte paper, is white. There was a scrapbooking matte paper that was light beige. It made beautiful cards, but I don't think that product is available anymore. I get tired of white backgrounds, but when I was making dozens of Christmas cards, it just was too much ink to print backgrounds.
I like Rita's concept of using a brush to put tiny flowers all over the back of the card. It adds a great touch. And, I never thought to put a soft graphic inside so the verse had a background. I usually fell back on framing the text. I like Rita's idea better.

This is the inside of my card. Very plain really with just a touch of colour. My friend has been having a bit of a tough time hence the sentiment on the card…

I have made many single fold cards, such as those shown by rita and lillias.
I would like to share a "trick" I have for making a very clean fold with matte paper: Using a straight edge where the fold is to be, I pull my matte cutter tool along the straight edge, putting almost no weight at all into the blade. The surface of the paper is scored ever so slightly, and allows for a wonderful straight fold.
