I would like to share a "trick" I have for making a very clean fold with matte paper: Using a straight edge where the fold is to be, I pull my matte cutter tool along the straight edge, putting almost no weight at all into the blade. The surface of the paper is scored ever so slightly, and allows for a wonderful straight fold. Yes it's a great trick that and it really does make a difference when you come to folding your card. Personally speaking I use the blunt edge of a knife to ensure I don't break the surface of the paper as I score it.

Good idea, Tom. My paper cutter has a scoring blade, so I sometimes use that. If I don't, though, I get a sloppy fold. Scoring is the best way to guarantee a nice fold. Well worth the effort to get a professional card.

Here's one I used a couple of times when I had unpardonably forgotten to congratulate. Its silliness achieved its purpose

A bit of fun that achieved it's purpose - what could be better Rita...

I have been making my greeting cards for years and love doing it. I buy my cardstock from Red River Paper and can't say enough about how great the quality of their paper is. Here is a link to their site: www.redrivercatalog.com/cardshop/ I figure if I'm putting that much effort into making the card it should be printed on quality paper and it really isn't that expensive per card. Depending on the design I might add glitter and my "logo" on the back always matches the card in some way

I've also have been satisfied with Red River. At the beginning, it was tough to find matte coated stock - especially two sided - but now that stock made for greeting cards is readily available, this is no longer a problem. I've been happy with brands packaged with envelopes, too. Just watch the paper weight. Flimsy stock makes a less than ideal card.

Looks an interesting site. Shame it is the other side of the pond.
