Our forum strives to be a friendly community that our members feel comfortable in. These rules are intended to guide our members on appropriate forum behavior and ensure we have a supportive environment for our members. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. If repeated warnings are given, you will be banned and your account will be deleted.
These forum rules will be updated as the forum evolves. This thread will be "bumped" such that any time it is updated, it will show up under "New Posts". Members should read the thread each time it is updated.
Rule 1 - Behavior
Treat others on these message boards as you would expect them to treat you. Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated.
Rule 2 - Feedback
As this is a forum dedicated to digital photo editing and photography, it is expected that members may ask for and receive feedback on any images they post. Members who are open to receiving constructive feedback are asked to set that option in their profile. If they do so, under their avatar it will display a message that they are open to constructive feedback. If that is not part of their profile, then other forum members should refrain from providing constructive feedback. We also ask that only members who themselves are open to constructive feedback provide that feedback to others.
When permitted, constructive feedback is welcome, but rude, hateful, or otherwise unhelpful feedback or insults (see Rule 1) will not be tolerated.
Rule 3 - Copyrighted material
You may not post any material that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner(s) of said copyright, trademark or other proprietary right.
You must own the rights to the photos you post here. If you are editing the work of another, you must have their permission to use their photo. For photos posted on this forum, unless given explicit permission to do so by the original poster (OP) of an image, you are asked not to edit, retouch or modify their image as part of giving them feedback. If you edit someone's photo you need to stipulate that you have received permission from the OP when posting your edit.
If you post your own tutorial, it must be your own unique work. If you are concerned about the use of it, you should note in the original post that you consider this your own copyrighted material and what rules you have regarding the use of it. If you are sharing a tutorial from another site or author, you must provide appropriate attribution.
It is up to the individuals who post images and tutorials to comply with the above rules. The owners/administrators of this forum cannot review every image and tutorial submitted. If we are made aware of a copyright violation, we will make every attempt to verify that and take appropriate action.
Reciprocal behavior should be followed - Do not post content from this forum elsewhere without complying with the policies of that site/service and with due respect to the privacy and copyrights of our members.
More information on copyright violations can be found on this thread.
Rule 4 - No Sexually explicit images or content
We’re trying to be family friendly. We realize that art is subjective, but this forum isn’t the right place to share those images. Linking to adult sites is also not permitted and will result in the user being banned.
Rule 5 - No explicit language
See Rule 4.
Rule 6 - No “Spamming”
Anyone spamming the forum with pointless posts that either seek to annoy us or for commercial gain is not permitted.
Rule 7 - Impersonating Other Users / Accessing Another User('s) Account
You may not use the account of another forum member, or in any way attempt to impersonate them on the forum.
Rule 8 - No politics
If you want heated discussions on this, there are plenty of other places for that on the internet.
Rule 9 - Privacy
What you share on this forum is largely controlled by you. It is the responsibility of the forum member to ensure the appropriate privacy of their information. Security of the forum is controlled by ProBoards and the administrators of this forum can’t control that.
The administrators of this forum won’t share, sell or otherwise give away what little information we have access to. It isn’t right, and we have better stuff to do anyway.
Rule 10 - Solicitation of editing services
The forum is here to help people who own a copy of, and work in, Photoshop Elements or related photo editing software; or are interested in learning about it. We do not offer services to create works for people, as that is just not what this forum is for. If a forum member here would like to help you, that's great, but we would request that this is done privately outside of this forum. Alternatively, there are lots of sites out there offering such services.
Rule 11 - Advertising
The primary focus of this forum is for members to ask for and receive help. In the course of doing this, it is understood that members may direct users to other sites to receive assistance. However, it is not acceptable for a member to post with the sole or primary purpose of directing members to a site from which the poster will receive a financial benefit. In their profile, users may use the "Website" field to link to their commercial business as long as said business is related to the content of this forum (so if you are a photographer, your profile Website may link to your professional page). It is not permitted to put any advertisements, commercial web site links or other commercial solicitations in the signature line or into any post/thread.
Rule 12 - Multiple accounts/Bypassing forum bans
Rule 99 - The admins make the rules
We might have missed some rules, or circumstances will show us that a new one needs to be added. Ultimately, the administrators and moderators of this forum have the final say on the behaviors of individuals on this forum. If they find any behavior which is not aligned with the objectives of this forum, they will notify the original poster.

Rule 12 - Multiple accounts/Bypassing forum bans
Members who are found to have created new accounts for the purpose of getting around warnings, bans, or other forum administration will be subject to banning with no warning. Members who have been banned and come back on the forum with a new identity will also be banned without warning.
Rule 13 - Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI tools
Many photo editing programs make use of artificial intelligence for specific purposes (noise reduction, for example). We consider this similar to any digital photo manipulation and we treat it accordingly. As with any digital photo editing, you should not pass off edited photos as being straight-out-of-camera. The use of Generative AI tools (such as those now bundled in Photoshop) is welcome on this forum, provided you comply with the terms and conditions of the service you are using (for example, Adobe Firefly).
