I posted a few messages on the board and received responses. However I wasn't notified via email even though it is set to do so. Is there a reason or did I miss something. TIA

In your personal profile, check to see if you have instant checked....there are daily, weekly options as well. 
The above example is for PM's but you can check for posts to threads that you have started as well. Hope I have understood your question correctly.  |

Sorry to say I can't find anything like the image you posted above under profile or any of the tabs.
Strike that, finally figured I had to go into edit mode, that why it wasn't showing. Thank you...
