To make a title like the above, duplicate your text layer and move one of the layers a few pixels left or right. A couple of pixels will make the text thicker, while a three or so will make the text separate like that. You can also try two different colors for your text layers. Use the arrow keys to move one pixel at a time.

I often make my text thicker. I like my titles to be bold. Sometimes I use 3 layers.
