There was a lengthy thread on EV about creating sparse abstract swooshes that I intended to study, but, well, you know...
Who was the chief investigator; elines maybe?
I would *love* to see some of that recreated here. Seems like some of that would make for a great logo!

Yes, there was and I'm sure I saved it. However, true to form, I can't find it just now and am rushing out. I'll be able to look again later in the day. Hopefully, I can find it. I have found the 'Fun with Gradients' article that was one of the links, which I saved as pdf. There was a link to another, older, thread which I also saved but, again, can't find it. I have a feeling it's because, those, I saved in OneNote so, once I find out the file extension, I can do a search but, again, later in the day Maybe elines will post back with confirmation of saving it. I'm confident he will have saved it too, and more likely to be able to find it than I am Cheers

Hi
Yes it was me. Glad you liked it. I was intending to do a new summary, tutorial as it sort of evolved in the EV thread.
I am on holiday in Valencia , Spain at the moment (44°C), and soon after we get back - next Saturday - we move house so not sure I can give full details but will see what I can do then.
In the meantime, I have tried to find some of the tutorials that I used to develop the approach but can't. They should be saved on my laptop (at home).
If anyone can post on here extracts from the original EV thread then you have my permission (if it's needed) to do so in so far as it is from a post of mine.
Sorry can't be more help at the moment
Chris

I believe the late Wendy Williams wrote a quick tutorial to create the effect you have in mind. Her tutorial was posted in EV. It involves using the Gradient tool, selecting a two-toned Linear Gradient, and changing the Mode to Difference. Do not use a black/white gradient. You can also try other gradient patterns such as Radial, Diamond, etc.

I'm away at the moment but I do have Wendy's tutorial saved.

I had saved Wendy's tutorial as well. Here it is.
Gradient Art by Wendy Williams
1. File>New ... 7inches x 7 inches, 72 pixels/inch, mode RGB, contents white. 2. Select the gradient tool plus any gradient you like ... but simple two tone colour ones do seem to work best. (Don't use black and white)
3. Start off with the Linear Gradient.
4. Set the mode to difference ... and paint!!
5. Now admire the amazing effects . . .
6. Try changing to diamond gradient ... experiment and ENJOY!!!

Here is a link to the 'Fun with Gradients' that, I think, was one of the links in a linked thread www.pbase.com/creativematrix/image/38093958 Hopefully, I'll find the saved thread started by elines before too long. If so, as a pdf, how can I make it accessible to you all, please? Julie
