Does Elements 15 have a "subtract" blend mode - or is that only in the big brother version? ~bruce.

Hi Bruce,
The Subtract blending mode is not available in Elements; it is specific to Photoshop. I believe you can replicate this blending mode in Elements by using this workaround.
Subtract -- Invert the layer (Ctrl-I, Cmmd-I on a Mac) and change the blending mode to Linear Burn.

Just adding some more information.
In addition to the Subtract blending mode, there is also another blending mode which is specific to Photoshop -- Divide. Here is the workaround to replicate this blending mode in Elements:
Divide -- Invert the layer and change the blending mode to Color Dodge.
To summarize it all . . .

You are most welcome! Glad to help.
I am familiar with Rudis' tutorial. You should be able to do it in Elements with this workaround.
