Hey all,
Hope this is the right place to post this.
I'd like to know how far back in versions can I go when watching Youtubes or reading tutorials in order to learn Elements before stuff starts getting to outdated?
Thanks much,
Starkman

Hi Starkman -
And welcome to our forum!
IMO, you're safe going back to version 11. That version had some significant changes. Of course there have been a whack of improvements and added features since then, but the basic stuff is the same.

Hi Starkman,
Many of the features/tools in Elements go back to the earliest days of this program. This means that even a tutorial written for much earlier versions can be followed in the version you have (version 15). However, you need to keep this in mind . . .
- Starting with Elements 11, Adobe did a major overhaul of this program. - Many features were removed in version 12. - The 3D Transform Filter was removed back in version 8.
What features from previous versions are not available in Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?
If you are looking for information, tutorials, etc. geared to Elements 15, you may want to start with . . . Photoshop Elements 15 -- Resources

Ah, very good to know. A lot of stuff that comes out for tutorials or what have you is usually based on the latest version, which makes it difficult to know when and when not to use earlier versions of something in order to learn that particular program. This helps greatly. Thanks!

Starkman, you have already received some good answers from those that are a lot smarter than myself but I will share a bit of my own experience.
We have Elements versions 7 and 12.
I stumbled upon a book specifically written for Elements 4 and it has been a huge help with both of our later versions and covers a lot of things that were completely ignored in the many specific Elements 7 books that we have.
Thanks for reading.
