Hey all,
Running the 30-day trial version of PSE 15, but I'm dealing with a lot of lag. The cursor lags when rolling over menu items, when trying to select stuff, pretty much when doing anything. It's a stop-and-go lag, and it's really bothersome. I can't work with it at all.
Windows 10 3.3 mhz chip 16 gigs ram Nvidia GTX 650 (not the best, but sheesh, not the worst) — I rolled back the video driver to what I know is a stable driver, but that didn't help. The Performance section in the Editor shows 70% disk usage (and I have more than enough disk space). I've imported one folder with about 40 pictures into the Organizer. That's all.
I have no lag in any other program, so I'm really lost here. Incidentally, I've run Lightroom and Photoshop on this system with no problems at all.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I hesitate to respond here, as I have nothing to offer at this time. However, I think it is more important to let you know that you are heard. I know what you are talking about and it sucks! Hopefully someone will offer a process for discovering what is causing it.

Hi Starkman,
There have been several reports on the Adobe Photoshop Elements forum about Elements 15 being sluggish. The usual suggestions how to handle this are:
- If the Organizer also seems to be sluggish, go to Edit>Preferences>Media-Analysis> . . . and turn off "Run Face Recognition Automatically". You can also "Reset Face Analysis" (if you don't want this feature).
- Give Elements a performance booster by following these Adobe suggestions.

Sepiana, In Organizer, I can't even access the menu items (File, Edit, etc.); they don't do anything. In Editor, however, I found a similar setting under Edit > Preferences > Performance, as seen below: . Should I untick this option? (Wait...not similar to your suggestion, I see now!)

Starkman,
There is something else going on here. I sincerely don't know why the Organizer's Menu items "don't do anything". I am baffled!
I hate suggesting you uninstall/reinstall Elements. Let's try this first.
1. Right-click on the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator". 2. See if you can access the Menu items in the Organizer. 3. If you can access them, close Elements. 4. Next, launch Elements as a standard user.

For the organizer problem, read this post: forums.adobe.com/thread/2228281There is a workaround for this bug with Windows 10 / PSE15: don't 'maximize your Organizer window and don't activate 'auto hide task bar'. If you can't open the organizer, try to keep the shift key pressed while opening the organizer: from the different options, choose to open with a new empty catalog. For your lag problem, in the editor preferences, don't tick the 'use graphic processor...' option, and in the organizer, don't tick anything automatic.

Michel, thanks for coming to the rescue! I was not aware of this bug; I don't have this problem with Elements 15/Windows 10. Living and Learning!
I was checking that thread on the Adobe forums and one of the posters, bobmitmen1, said . . . "I reinstalled PE and now it works". Do you think Starkman should try this route?

Okay, this is rich!
First, as to the lag, running Windows FULLY maximized (I had it unmaximized all along) took care of the lag! I mean, okay, I'll take that! Who cares if it's the opposite to fix the problem for others!
As to the menus not working in Organizer, unticking the auto hide task bar fixed the issue.
I'll monitor things from here and get back to you all if there's a glitch in my "fixes."
Hey, thanks all. I greatly appreciate it!

Yeah, Sepiana, I was a bit lost there as to where to post this, you know, what with both the Organizer and Editor giving me issues.
Thanks for the help!
