Hi Team,
I downloaded my Elements 8 into my new HP home laptop; Windows 10. Now it does not work effectively, and after searching on Google it appears that there could be a few variations on how to overcome the problem. Perhaps you have some ideas too.
Also I clicked on the introduction link, but could not find where to continue.

Hi Colin in Australia, welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here.
I am not sure what is going on but Elements 8 should work just fine on Windows 10. There is evidence that Elements, as far back as version 2, will work on Windows 10.
Before we look into some possible troubleshooting steps, would you please give us more details as to what you mean when you say that Elements 8 "does not work effectively" on Windows 10? The more details you can provide the better. Thanks!

Colin, There have been many reports of older versions of PSE not functioning as expected using WIN10 and a recent update of same. Suggest that you head over to the Microsoft WIN10 forum to see if there is a fix. I doubt it. Adobe no longer supports PSEv.8. You can download a free, fully functioning 30-day trial of PSEv.15 (the current version). If it works well on your machine and you like it, you may buy the license subsequently. www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/download-trial/try.html

There have also been many reports of earlier versions of Elements working on Windows 10 without any problems. I myself have several of such versions running on Windows 10 -- 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. No problems whatsoever!
You are absolutely correct. Adobe no longer supports Elements 8. But I believe this applies to fixing bugs, releasing patches, updating the ACR Converter, etc. They will and still do provide other kinds of support through these two forums.
forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements
feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/categories/photoshop_family_photoshop_elements The usual fixes recommended by Adobe when you install an older version of Elements on a newer version of Windows are:
- Install Elements as an Administrator. - Turn off your antivirus software for the duration of the installation.
If Elements is still not working as it should, . . .
- Run the program in Compatibility Mode for your OS.
Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

Hi Colin,
Have you tried these suggestions? What happened?

About the Introductions issue . . .
Also I clicked on the introduction link, but could not find where to continue. Do you want to create a thread introducing yourself? If so, . . .
Once you click on this link -- www.photoshopelementsandmore.com/board/23/introductions -- you will be taken to the Introductions board (as shown in my first screen shot). Next, click on "Create Thread" (top right corner of the red bar). You will be taken to the message box shown in my second screen shot.
Click on images for larger size.
