I have this personal rule when it is my turn to judge. I try to remember not to "like" and comment on people's work during my judging week. The reason being that I may really like an image but then in the end it doesn't make my final cut.
This is one of those weeks. I was partly through the week when I remembered "my rule". Needless to say there were many images that appealed to me this week. So now for my choices....in no particular order:
Deciding where and how to crop an image is always a struggle for me. I found myself studying the way Joe cropped this elephant.....and his title says it all......Elements of an Elephant. Every inch of this image contributes to the distinctive features of an elephant.

The iris is one of my favorite flowers. Capturing it with all of its detail while maintaining a blurred background is what flower photographers strive for. Additionally, it is vibrant with color and beautifully lit.

Another flower that caught my attention this week was Delicate. For me black and white was the perfect choice for this image. Delicate processing that emphasizes the simple beauty of this flower.

A late arrival and my choice for IOW is:
The Biltmore Statue Revisited drjoerogers

The tone, texture, and three dimensional look of this sketch is just beautifully done.
Each of these images really spoke to me on a personal level this week, and I'm happy to share my choices with you.
