Wife and I took a 10 day trip around the entire country. Experinced everything from sunshine to 50+ mile per hour winds with rain/sleet/hail. If you like waterfalls - the place is like heaven. There is much to see and do all around the island. Could have spent more time at the diamond beach (black sand beach) at the Glacier Lagoon area.

Why called diamond, if it is black sand?
Any photos of that, bnk?
I love waterfalls, but have never seen a big one.

A visit to Iceland will give you many, many waterfalls. We experienced them all the way around the island. The photo pretty much explains why I call it diamond beach! The icebergs from the glacier lagoon head out to see but tides, etc. leave some of these icebergs on the black sand beach to melt and or wait for the next tide.  |
