I bought an Epson scanner and it came bundled with PSE 9. I installed the software on my desktop computer and set up the scanner to digitize family photos and slides. Next month I will be traveling to my mother-in-law's house to help get it in order now that she has moved into assisted living. I intend to take my laptop and the scanner and digitize as many of my father-in-laws slides and my wife's family photos while we are there. To this end, I started to install PSE 9 on my laptop but it is choking on the serial number. I'm pretty sure the number I am entering is the serial number, it is 6 groups of 4 digits separated by dashes. Could it be I have to deactivate the desktop version before I can install on my laptop? What does deactivation do? When I'm done using the laptop (not my primary use of the software), am I going to have to reactivate the desktop version where I usually use this software. This is really getting to be a pain in the...

Hi Alex -
Are you copying and pasting the serial number? That's the most foolproof method. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish between 0 (zero) and O (capital O) for example.
And no, you should not have to deactivate it from your desktop. You are allowed use on a desktop and a laptop simultaneously.

I hope I'm replying to the correct posting - this is to MajorMajor. After several attempts, I read your response and decided to try one more time. I had nothing to use for copy-n-paste so I slowly retyped the serial number and pressed enter. It accepted the number and is now happily churning away installing itself. However, in looking for some kind of support, I came across a "Catch-22" situation (no pun intended, MajorMajor). Any attempt at getting through to Adobe required an Adobe ID but I remember now that when I tried to create an ID, I continually got a message that it was unavailable and to try later. I got the same run-around today. I don't think I ever registered my original installation because of the same problem. Is the Adobe ID a valid function? Does it work? What do you get for creating one? Thanks for the reply. I'm looking forward to reading some good stuff on this forum. Alex
