It's Saturday and time for a new CE Challenge. Before we get started I would like to let you all know that this will be my last CE Challenge contribution. I have had fun hosting this with the other hosts of this challenge for the past 2 years and want to thank everyone who has taken part in these. These challenges certainly tought me a lot of new things and processes, but it is time for me to step back and let others take over. On that note, I would like to encourage members to consider becoming a host of this challenge; the more people we have, the less work it is for everyone involved. We recently added two members as hosts to this challenge and I would love to see more people getting actively involved. Right, now for the fun bit. I chose this video tutorial from davrodigital for this challenge. While I followed the tutorial for the most part, I did pick other brushes that worked better with my photo, I also experimented with the brush opacity and chose a different gradient. This is really all dependent on what sort of photo you use, so experiement with different brushes and settings. At the end of it all I decided that a texture was needed to finish this off. Here is the before photo: And this is what I ended up with: I look forward to your creations!

Boohoo, I am so sad to see you stepping down as a host from the creative effects challenges Simone as I have gotten so much out of them over the past 2 years. Thank you so much for all of your efforts in putting them together and making them so fun while at the same time helping us to learn new tricks and techniques. With that said I will get busy later on today or tomorrow and take part in this one

Simone I appreciate the time and energy you have put forth to bring our members some very interesting tutorials. At the same time I am so happy to have joined you in your idea for a Black and White Challenge. Hopefully one of our members will volunteer to join Tom, Frank and BillieJean in the continuation of Creative Effects. It took me awhile to decide on what image to use for this effect......I like the results that I got using an image of one of my grandsons at bat.

Frank, thank you for your nice comments. I really like what you have done with the Eagle picture, and thank you for posting your layer stack!
Sydney, again, thank you for the kind words. I am glad to hear you got something out of the challenges I set.
Helen, I am so looking forward to the new B&W challenge and am glad we are doing this one together. Your photo of your grandson really suits this challenge well!
Lillias, thank you for the well wishes! Again, another great photo for this challenge.
As you can see, this techique really does lend itself to all types of photos, from portraits to landscapes and animals; so join in and show us what you can do!

This is a fun technique. This is a zany character I captured at Mardi Gras a few years ago. I will have a go at another one when I get more of a chance to have a play. Thanks again Simone

An interesting use of masks. Thanks, Simone, for the time you have given to find so many unusual tutorials for us.
