Tradescantia pallida – common name Wandering Jew is planted on my deck. The contrast between the bloom and the coarser texture of the leaves with the dew drops really captured my attention. I watched for several days different blooms come an go – they only last ~24 hours. A morning after the rain this bloom really shined. I used Hoya macro filters to capture the 5 image set which was imported into ACR to set white and black points, adjust contrast, sharpen and reduce noise. All 5 images were then opened in Photoshop Elements and focus stacked using Elements+. The resulting .psd file was then opened in PR (Tone and Color) where the highlights were reduced and contrast increased. A lens blur was applied in Effects reducing the brightness and adding noise to the background.

That is stunning. In this country, Tradescantias were grown as a house plant.
