I know how to create a gradient, how to edit a gradient, how to use a gradient – I don’t know how to save a gradient so that I can use it again.
The Obama Hope Poster Effect Challenge requires creating a gradient and I’ve made it over and over but would like to be able to save it for once and for all. I have been able to save it temporarily but as soon as I close PSE and open it again it’s gone.
Any help in this matter would be appreciated. I’m using PSE 15 on a Win 10 machine. Thanks.

you have just edited a new gradient. It is shown in the gradient editor dialog. - you can already give it a name (right click on the swatch for contextual menu, choose rename) - Lets say the Preset shown in the second line is 'default', click on the button 'add to preset' on the right of the dialog. Nothing is saved at this point. - click on the second icon (floppy drive) on the top right of the dialog. - enter a new name for the gradient set (default + your new gradient) with a .grd extension. That saves all the gradient in the presets. - To use it again, in the gradient editor dialog, click this time on the first icon (+) and choose 'load'
I have not found any text help for that purpose, but that works for me.

Thank you both so much. I felt I was going round in circles trying to do this but with your help I’ve managed it at last. As you say Rita it’s not very intuitive. I better take a note of these instructions so I know what to do in the future.
Many thanks once again.

Glad it worked for you, Lillias. I wasn't sure if I made it clear enough. You can just download it, my post is a .jpg.
