When I select a pic in LR and export it to my desktop, it works fine. When I select another picture nothing happens. I even shut down LR and tried again with the second picture but it wouldn't download. What am I doing wrong

Sometimes I wonder about myself! I don't think you are alone there Berie...It's not the first time I've wondered about myself! It's better just to sit and have a laugh about it...

Forget I ever asked. I found I can just drag a picture to y desktop. Sometimes I wonder about myself! Berie, glad you asked and glad you found a workaround. Like Helen, I didn't know about just dragging the picture to the desktop. Unfortunately, the problem remains. Lightroom should not be doing this.
When I select a pic in LR and export it to my desktop, it works fine. When I select another picture nothing happens. I even shut down LR and tried again with the second picture but it wouldn't download. What am I doing wrong I have no idea what is causing this problem. I export more than one picture to my desktop all the time. Hopefully someone will come up with the answer.
EDIT:
I paid a quick visit to the Adobe Lightroom forums. There are reports galore about the problem you describe, particularly with the version of Lightroom you have (v. 6). The suggestions to fix it range from turning off "Use Graphics Processor" (Lightroom>Preferences>Performance) to resetting the Preferences file.
