This is a 6 shot panorama taken from the Isle of Portland looking north towards the mainland. Portland is called an 'Island' even though it is connected to the mainland by a mile long causeway and Chesil Beach. The beach itself is a natural shingle bank 18 miles long, 600 ft wide and nearly 50 ft high. This area is part of the 'Jurassic Coast' that forms part of a World Heritage Site.

I really enjoy your panoramas.
I have heard of Portland Bill in the past, but never gave a thought as to what it was. You prompted me to do a search. Very interesting.

That is some size, isn't it. Love the way the sun shines through the clouds. I had always thought that pictures taken facing the sun, didn't turn out. You have proved that to be wrong. Many thanks.
