Hi, I was a member of the former EV and was surprised and saddened to see it go... I was wondering if anyone has any idea on how to make every other row of pixels black as mentioned at about 4:25 in this YouTube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=STwoa-9jxi0I like the effect and would like to do the same with PSE8 Thanks, Stuart Kaufman

I would use a mask or overlay and blend modes.

Great suggestion Janice! Another option is to create a pattern of lines. Place a blank layer above your image, fill with the pattern you create and change the blend mode to multiply. At this point you can change the opacity of the pattern layer or use any blendmode.

Frank, great idea! I was thinking the same thing. A lined/striped pattern would be similar to the effect in the video. One could create such a pattern or use a third-party one. As a matter of fact, I was just checking these patterns to see if they would do the job.

Those lines really create a great affect on the photo. Looks like something that would work well on a scrapbook page.
