I have PS 14 on one machine I want to transfer it to another machine. I think have only used one copy so I believe I can install it on the new machine; if not will uninstall and deregister from old machine?
However what I am interested in is the catalog/image files. I have a 2TB HD holding the image files that I will install on the new machine but what about the catalogs; there are two.
What files do I need to transfer to the new machine so that when the Organizer fires up it does so with all my tags etc in place?
(I think I once tried a catalog backup but this was enormous; it seemed to include the images as well - my memory maybe failing me here as that was a long time ago).
Any advice please?

So, your image files are already on the external drive? In that case, the process does not involve the backup/restore process (but you do have a backup anyway, do you?)
Your catalog folder is probably in the default location on the computer (menu Help >> system information to get the location of that folder).
You simply need to copy that folder somewhere in your new computer or copy it to the hard drive alongside your library folder tree. In the catalog manager you browse to the 'custom' location of that folder. That is the usual way to share a catalog and library between two computers by pluggin in the external drives alternatively. With Windows, you only double click the catalog.pse14db file in the catalog folder; the organizer opens with that catalog. If you have several catalogs, it's the same process.

Backup yes, both on and off site.
Thank you for the detail, will copy those files across.
