Sepiana.....could you tell us a little bit about Filter Forge and how you use it? I have seen a few people recommend it but when I look at it, it seems overwhelming and I wonder if I would ever use it.

Helen, I have been using Filter Forge for many years. I started with the Basic version, and then, when they made me an offer I couldn't refuse (80% off), I got the Pro version.
As far as how to use it, it all depends on what you are interested in. Filter Forge comes with a variety of factory filter presets which you can customize to suit your project. The filters are organized into categories -- textures, frames, patterns, artistic effects, distortions, etc. Also, each filter will offer a number of preset variations.
The overwhelming aspect of it is their Filter Library. Thousands and thousands of filters you can download at no charge. What I do is . . . about once a month I visit their Library and check the new filters. If I see something I may use, I download it, and give it a try. If I don't care for the effect, I just delete the filter from my own Library.
You can also create filters and submit them to be added to their Library. That's something I have been exploring lately.
I strongly suggest anyone interested in Filter Forge should download the free trial, test the waters, and see if it can be incorporated into his/her workflow.

Oh, I've just dropped in to announce the release and here it is right on top! All the new features with descriptions are here www.filterforge.com/features/ but I'll list them here as well. For all the users: 1. We've made Filter Forge faster by improving sample caching. 2. Copy and paste images between Filter Forge and any graphic editor. So now you literally don't need official host support to comfortably work with Filter Forge and your favorite graphic editor. 3. Generate and preview all active channels during rendering and export all of them to files at once. For filter authors: 1. Instant component search will help you to find and add any component faster and easier. 2. We refreshed 47 existing components, made their list and slider inputs mappable. Now there's even less boundaries for your creativity. Try all these new features www.filterforge.com/download/ and let us know what you think.
