For the last several days, I have not had any response whatsoever when I press the Esc key. I first thought it was the keyboard; tried the keyboard on two other machines and it worked fine. I tried a different wireless keyboard on the problem machine and Esc would not work for it either. I was by then suspecting some sort of wireless keyboard driver issue and was just about to dig into that; but before I went into that, I dug out an old ancient ACER wired keyboard and tried it; no Esc response for that keyboard either. So, I google-searched and found this: www.oxhow.com/how-to-fix-an-unresponsive-escape-key/Toward the end of the article, he says that Photoshop is often the culprit when one is experiencing a non-responsive Esc key; read the many comments of people thanking him for pointing out that Photoshop is the cause of their grief. After reading that, I closed Elements and my Esc function immediately started working.(spell check kept saying that I was spelling immediately wrong; I looked it up and I was right and spell check was wrong; that is not the first nor the second time I have had that happen) I have used Elements for years and this is the first time it has caused me to lose the Esc function. Has this happened to any of you guys ? Do you think deleting the preferences file would cure this ?

I have been using a desk top computer for about 14 years - not the same one, I hasten to add. I have never been able to get the Esc. key to activate on any site. I gave up trying long before I came on this forum.

Has this happened to any of you guys ? I have been running Windows 7 SP1 on my desktop and Windows 10 on my laptop with various versions of PSE on both and have never had any problems with the Esc key. Since this started only a few days ago, then as a last resort, if no other solution is found, perhaps use Restore Point to restore your computer to the latest restore point it has before you noticed the issue. That should get the Esc key working again.
