Welcome to the penultimate IOW presentation for 2017. Whilst the number of entries was a bit on the lower than average side this week (probably owing to the fact that a lot of folks are eagerly making preparations for Santa’s arrival), there was still quality aplenty. Here are my selections for this week:
Honourable Mentions:
Silent Night – drjoerogers
A beautiful and serene image totally in keeping with the Christmas season with the tree and its reflection illuminating the water. The night time aspect and austerity of the scene lends itself well to black and white.
Backyard Tree – PeteB
A simple but lovely image which nicely conveys the Christmas season. I love the harmony between the glow of the moon beams and the illumination of the tree.
fruit tart –deany
Yum! This image appears to be bursting with flavour and reminds me of a Christmas favourite down under called Pavlova. Great use of texturing and bokeh on this image. All of a sudden I feel very peckish for a dessert like this!
Special Honourable Mentions:
caught in the moment – srmoment
Great capture and processing on this image. The swan with its wings in full spread is majestic and I like how it has been superimposed and is in synch over a larger stylised swan. The effect works well and is outstanding.
Tulip – fotofrank
The series of stacked frames cascading downwards and into the centre of the image directs the viewer’s eye right to the colourful subject in a very unusual and intriguing way.
Avia’s Gift Shop – Andy
With the contrast between the pastel blue and orange tones of the building and the more vibrant colours of the dress and shop sign I find this to be a most fascinating image. For me, it also has a cool retro feel to it.
Image of the Week (IOW):
The Bike – Kathylee
As I have been working on processing a bike photo myself over the past week this image struck a chord with me. I particularly like the composition with the bike off to one side in the foreground while the background features an interesting contrast between the colourful plants and flowers on the left and the crumbling and weathered façade on the right. A top capture!
And so you have it for this week. Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful and very merry Christmas and a fab and fun filled 2018! Will look forward to perusing everyones creative masterpieces in the galleries next week and in the new year
