Happy New Year everyone! This is the last IOW of 2017, and I want to thank everyone for their continued support - both through judging and through contributions to the Gallery. Here are my picks: Janel, by fotofrank - I want to know what she is so intently staring at through the fence! Frozen Bubble, by @storkington - I've never heard of freezing and photographing soap bubbles, but I like the result! Old and Rusty, by Sepiana - Another fine example of texturing and processing from Sepiana! and my IOW Selection: Straight Ahead, by dandc - This photo drew me in as I had to process what I was looking at. The low angle, the leading lines, the curves of the tree, the textures - very nice work! Great job everyone and congratulations! |

Thanks for judging, Andy. Congratulations to Frank and Sepiana for being recognized this week. Special congrats to Simone for her stunning soap bubble. I encourage members to check out her blog and see the effort that went into capturing this image. Finally, congrats to Dan for his IOW and reminding us of the impact that can be achieved by shooting from a different angle. |

I just finished restoring the color to that almost 40 year old print. She was looking at me taking her picture and refused to smile as long as that gate was closed.

Thank you for judging and the IOW pick Andy! Congratulations to all who were selected - such a creative group . . . I must admit I would never have thought of freezing soap bubbles. My creativity seems to stop at stooping down to take a photo ;^)

I must admit I would never have thought of freezing soap bubbles Dan, I cannot take credit for coming up with this idea; it was something that kind of went viral a couple of years ago here in Canada (and elsewhere I think), and it resurfaced this year, so I decided to join in! |
