I have an image that's 1200px x 800px and I want to crop it on top and bottom so that it's 1200px x 600px. But the crop tool only shows the new crop dimensions in inches. Is there a way to have it show the new dimension in px? Thanks

There are a few ways you can do this. The easiest and quickest for me in this case is: 1) Select the crop tool and enter the crop size dimensions you want in px in the options bar. Leave the value for resolution blank to prevent the crop from resampling the image. 2) Drag the crop tool from the left edge of the image to the right edge. 3) Then use the keyboard's up/down arrows to fine tune the crop selection. 4) When you have the crop selection where you want, click the green tick to make the crop. Hopefully the attached screenshot displays the above clearly. (click to enlarge)

toonbon, welcome to Photoshop Elements & More!
Just enter the pixel dimensions you want in the Width and Height boxes.

Just adding some information.
Cropping (Help file)
NOTE: Adobe made some changes to the Crop tool in Elements 13. This tool now offers automatic cropping suggestions.
