We have all been through it at some point, the camera has not seen light of day for weeks or even months and nothing inspires us to get going. I can currently feel myself falling into this, in my case it comes from having freezing temperatures that make going outside quite a challenge. Where a few years ago I would switch to indoor projects I haven't done so this winter (or at least, not yet). This article gives some really great advise on how to get going again after a period without picking up your camera. I found the photos inspiring and the few steps to getting going again resonated with me; I hope that some of you will find this as helpful as I have!

That's a great article Simone, thanks for sharing it. That's a novel idea of taking just 15 minutes to shoot images. She certainly has created some gems.

As the article mentions, still life is not everyone's cup of tea. What I sometimes do is simply go out to the back and front yards and just start taking photos of things I can see - trees, plants, fences, pot plants, birds in trees etc and play with different angles, focal lengths etc. If nothing else, it's good practice to improve skills.

Sydney, glad you found this article useful.
Bailey, I agree, still life is not for everyone, however, the advise of just taking 15 minutes a day to shoot can be applied to pretty much all photographic subjects. As you pointed out, just stepping outside into one's own garden can achieve the same thing.
Sometimes it is good to just start taking photos, even if the shots will not end up as "keepers"!

High of -6F not going outside. Yes, sounds like staying indoors might be a good option! Stay warm!

For those folks needing some inspiration Intentional Camera Motion is intriquing; also a method to use your camera to pixel pull rather than using post processing. Here's an outdoor example: - dyptich left camera rotated capturing my wife's lovely peonies
- dyptich right blended above capture with a static capture
