I have Elements+ for PSE15 and I am trying to learn more about it. I watched the " Introduction to Elements+" video that shows (at 1 minute 25 seconds) opening the Effects Panel (fx) which then shows tabs on the top right of "Filters", Styles" and "Effects". There is no image loaded at this time. When I do the same thing I do not see any tabs at the top right in my PSE. Then he goes to the Photo Effects tab ("Effects") which is where he selects Elements+ category. What settings do I need to change to be able to see these tabs? If I go to File/Automation Tools then I do see the Elements+ effects, so I know it is installed correctly, but there is something set wrong that I don't see what this gentleman is seeing on his computer. Thank you for your help!

Charles, I am not sure why you cannot see the Effects panel. Do you have it turned on? Window>Effects.
As a side note, . . .
I believe the video was done using an earlier version of Elements. The three panels (Effects, Filters, Styles) can be opened by just turning on Effects in the Window menu. Starting with Elements 15, Adobe made some changes. Each panel is listed in its own category in the Window menu. You can turn them on individually.

As Sepiana said, in PSE 15+, Filters and Styles are independent panels. In the previous versions, they are just sub-tabs of the Effects panel.
Otherwise, this video is absolutely applicable to PSE 15.

Hi Sepiana, When I click on Windows (in PSE) I can have either the Layers showing ticked, OR I can have Effects ticked. For me I can not have them both showing as ticked. When I click on Layers, then Effects goes unticked. If I click on Effects, then Layers goes unticked. I tried doing a screen shot to show you and Andrei this, but when I have the Windows dropdown showing, when I then want to get Sniping Tool active then the white dropdown disappears. I also tried not having PSE in full window size so I could see both PSE and the Snipping Tool at the same time but again when I activate Snipping Tool the white dropdown from Windows (Windows in PSE) goes bye-bye. How are you able to get the screen shot?

How are you able to get the screen shot? Do you have a "Prt Scrn" key on your keyboard? If yes, press that and it will take a screen shot and put it in the clipboard. From there you can go into PSE and File->New->Image from clipboard. You can then edit the screenshot and save it as a jpeg.

Thank you bailey. I have a Logitech keyboard, and I do have a key that says "Print Screen" (not Prt Scrn) as yours is. I was able to get this screen shot shown above. But when I tried doing the opposite with "Effects" showing ticked, and my cursor over "Layers" with Layers colored blue, THEN again press my Print Screen button, and then go back to File/New/Image from Clipboard, it again brings up the original screen shot. How do I clear the clipboard?

Please, see the instructions below. They were written for PSE 11 but are applicable to PSE 15.
Introduction and Setup for Photoshop Elements 11
I tried doing a screen shot to show you and Andrei this, but when I have the Windows dropdown showing, when I then want to get Sniping Tool active then the white dropdown disappears. I also tried not having PSE in full window size so I could see both PSE and the Snipping Tool at the same time but again when I activate Snipping Tool the white dropdown from Windows (Windows in PSE) goes bye-bye. How are you able to get the screen shot? I usually use the Snipping tool but in this instance I used the PrtScn key. (I have a Microsoft keyboard; you should have a similar key on whichever keyboard you have.)

But when I tried doing the opposite with "Effects" showing ticked, and my cursor over "Layers" with Layers colored blue, THEN again press my Print Screen button, and then go back to File/New/Image from Clipboard, it again brings up the original screen shot. How do I clear the clipboard? Once you do File>New>Image from Clipboard, your screen shot(s) will be displayed as tabs. Just close the one you don't want.
And if you need to delete the items copied to the Clipboard to free up memory, . . .

Sepiana, I am not going to do a quote, because now it will get too cluttered for me. In the video from Jessica, I followed the first couple of steps, but then she was doing things, talking about things that sounds like scrap booking that I will never get into. I still can not have both "Effects" and "Layers" ticked as you have in your screen shot, plus now in the custom layout, I no longer have at the bottom right area of PSE15 the Layers icon or Effects icon that is shown in the Elements+ video I referred to yesterday. All I have now is the "More" icon. Is this what your PSE looks like in general? I know it will not be exactly the same....... Is there a way to still have the Layers tab, Effects tab in lower right corner using the custom workspace? The tabs on upper right corner of my screen shot are "Layers", "Effects", "Filters" and "Styles" Both Effects and Styles are empty, nothing for me to choose or use. How do I get the items in those tabs? I would at least like to have the 9 Elements+ actions in the Effects tab as shown in the Elements+ video. I do not know if I would ever use the Styles tab to be honest. I do have the "Actions" in the "More" box that does have Elements+ actions located there. In Windows 10, do you know where the clipboard is? I did not word my question with enough detail yesterday, but this is what I really wanted to know in how to clear the clipboard within windows 10. Thank you!

Andrei, This question is probably more for you. In your Elements+ video I referred to in the beginning, I saw an action being used that I really liked, being "Meta Stamp" which I seem to not have in my copy. Why do i not see this in Elements+ 15? Is it possible to get it in there? I really want to use this! You can see below the differences between your copy and mine using the Scripts action. Thank you!

Charles, Meta Stamp is certainly available in your version.
Please, try the following: In the "Scripts" dialog, pull the drop menu at the top and choose "Misc. Utilities" category

Once you are in the Custom Workspace, you should be able to choose which panels to make visible as well as where to place those panels. If you want to have both the Layers and the Effects panel in the lower right corner, just place your cursor on the little bar with the name of the panel and, then, drag-&-drop the panel there.
This seems to indicate a problem with the MediaDatabase.db3 file and/or the ThumbDatabase.db3 file. These are the two databases "catering" to the Effects panel. Either they got corrupted/damaged or they didn't rebuild properly when you installed Elements+. Let's try this.
(NOTE: Make sure Elements is closed while you do this.)
1. Set up your folder options to show hidden files. -- Show hidden files 2. Navigate this path and delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file. -- C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\15.0\Locale\en_US (or your locale)\MediaDatabase.db3 3. Launch Elements. The program will rebuild the MediaDatabase.db3 file. Be patient; this process may take a few minutes. 4. Check if the Effects panel is working as it should.
If just deleting the MediaDatabase.db3 file doesn't fix the problem, let's delete one more file -- the ThumbDatabase.db3 file -- located at the end of this path.
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\15.0\ThumbDatabase.db3
Here are the instructions.
Clear Clipboard using Shortcut or Context Menu in Windows 10/8/7
A word of caution -- I would strongly recommend you don't go into the Registry unless you know your way around. Make a little mistake such as deleting the wrong key and it could create havoc on your OS.

Sepiana, Thank you very much. I will work on this later as I now have to get ready to go in to work later... As for working with the registry... I did play with the registry years ago, and i knew the risks. I never had a problem, BUT it has been many years ago, and not sure i want to risk it again. I was hoping the clipboard would have been stored in a much easier place to work with!

I did what you suggested below, and now PSE 15 seems to be working much better! Thank you again so very much Sepiana! How many times a year do you show this to different people? I know I am not the first one, but maybe the first one for 2018!! <grin> (NOTE: Make sure Elements is closed while you do this.)

There have been very few reports about problems with the MediaDatabase.db3 file. I guess it is due to the fact that, starting with PSE 11, we no longer need to install Effects (actions) in the appropriate folder, delete this file, etc. Now we just load them.
