Welcome everyone to our first Progressive Scrap. I hope that you will join in and have fun.
The challenge is done in 4 parts over a period of approx; one week at the end of which you should have created a complete Scrap Page.
I will post instructions for the Challenge here in this thread every two days starting Today then Wednesday and Friday finishing on Sunday.
After you complete each step please post them in this thread marked - Part 1 or Part 2 etc;
Note: Remember as well as saving each part as a jpg to upload here also save as a PSD so that you can add to it as we go along.
So let’s get started and feel free to put your own interpretation of the instructions on your page so long as the Steps are followed.
Part 1
Open a new document 12x12 inches. Place a background paper on the document.
Then place a photo of choice somewhere on your page. The photo should occupy no more than a quarter of your page.
Part 2
Place TWO frames on your page. They must be touching or overlapping in some way. You can use whatever frames you like.
I created my frames by using the rectangular marquee tool to drag out a rectangle.
I created a new layer - go to Edit > Stroke (Outline) Selection and chose white as my colour, width 10 pixels and Location Inside and clicked OK.
Put some splatters on the page. Place some coming out from behind the photo. Check out the custom shapes in PSE for this, or there are free brushes available from the likes of Brusheezy or myphotoshopbrushes. Watercolour brushes are good for this.
Note
I mentioned putting some splatters on your page - if I can just bring to your attention if you look at the brushes in PSE under 'Wet Media Brushes' you may find something you can use there.
To colour the brushes you can do it via Hue/Saturation or my preferred way is Ctrl Click on the thumbnail of the brush in the layers panel to select it and go to the Gradient tool. Choose a gradient, click on the linear icon and drag your cursor over the splat and voila. You can then if you want, reduce the opacity to melt it more into the page.
Part 3
Place and arrange between 5 and 10 embellishments on your page. This can be flowers, leaves, objects, whatever you think best for your page.
Remember there are items available under the Graphics tab within PSE if you need them.
At this stage you can also add drop shadows to your elements and frames if you wish. Drop shadows give a sense of depth and can bring a page alive.
Part 4
This is the last part which will complete your page.
Put a border round the page. The one I have used is available in the Graphics>By Type section of PSE and it’s called
Painted Edge.
Give your page a title or include some journaling and you’re done.
This is optional - On my page I put a layer mask on my Text layer and used a brush at a low opacity to grunge up the text a little.
