Because I've had MINOR problems with auto lens detection and panorama creation a beta (2018.1) was offered to me. I happy to report that both problems were fixed in the beta release. The released update (probably early March) will be free for 2018 registered users.

Downloaded the trial version, watched a few videos on it and have to say "Wow". Lots of features, easy to use - at least the basics to try out. I was hooked. Unfortunately, my PC is at the minimum requirements end and On1 Photo Raw 2018.1 just ran too slow and sluggish. Maybe next PC upgrade I'll try again. Too bad, it's nice.
