Very well said Simone. You said what I couldn’t seem to do. Thank you! My primary goal in this forum is to learn by doing if a critique comes along fine but my intent is to try the challenges, tutorials and other “lessons” so I can master pse and salvage some of those photos that dont make the grade.

I think the bottom line is – some people are comfortable being critiqued and other’s not so much perhaps. We are all individuals with our own particular sensitivities and the manner in which the critique is given can make a big difference as to how it is received. ... ... Yes, that is 100% true. But when I see someone has "Open to constructive criticism: Yes" I am making the assumption that they welcome it not only when they ask for it. If they wish to ask for constructive suggestions only in specific circumstances then imho "Open to constructive criticism" should be set to No, and they can then ask for suggestions when it suits them. Otherwise the member is sending mixed signals which is not fair to the member and any other member who offers constructive suggestions. Offering constructive suggestions can be encouraging someone as well, if done properly. Otherwise just heaping praise on someone all the time can lead to the situation similar to where family members and friends always tell someone their singing is great all the time (in order to not offend or upset them) when in fact they can't hold a note. That someone then finds out the hard way that they can't sing when they become so confident in their ability, after being showered with praise all the time, that they end up on one those TV talent shows where they are told a few home truths. I am happy that my initial post helped you in some small way and that you took it the way I had hoped. This thread is clearly an example of how offering constructive suggestions can work well.
This thread is now starting to go round in full circles, so if I see someone with "Open to constructive criticism: Yes" I will continue to offer constructive suggestions if I feel I can help and I hope they will be taken in the same way that you have in this thread
