Hi guys, Seems I've stumbled on another anomaly or else I'm just not learning the new program. This time the Text Tool is misbehaving.
1. When trying to select a font name or point size, I have to click the popup window arrow more than once for it to open. If I click them only once they will flash open and immediately close.
2. The Bold/Italics/Underline buttons behaved even worse. I click on them several times with no response. Click them enough times and they finally behave.
3. When picking a different color from the color picker, my last edited text will change to that color when it is not focused or selected ()
4. The text tool color picker will change colors on its own when moving focus to a new text object.
These issues don't happen every time which keeps me wondering what's going on when they do.
I can close/reopen PSE and it will behave correctly for a while but then very soon it will start misbehaving all over again.
Anyone else see this happening?

Hi reshacker, I have PSE 2018 installed on two computers (Windows 10/Windows 7). I have not encountered any of the problems with the Type tool you describe. Have you tried resetting this tool? Go to the right end of the Tool Options area, click on the four-line square, and select "Reset Tool". NOTE: Do not do "Reset All Tools". There is no need to reset the whole Tools panel when only one tool is misbehaving.
If the problem is still there, let's try something else. This seems to fix some glitches that seem to develop in this program.
1. Launch PSE as administrator by right-clicking on the desktop shortcut and selecting "Run as administrator". 2. Use the Type tool. Check to see how it is working. If you see none of those problems, close PSE. 3. Open PSE again but this time do it as a regular user.

reshacker, this is a problem I had a while ago. It stopped when I switched to another mouse.

1. I'm trying a different mouse but there's no change in behavior. They're both Logitech wireless but even my touchpad (laptop) behaves the same way.
2. The Reset Tool works for one instance only here. I have to reset it each time I highlight a word. When a word is highlighted the Reset Tool flyout won't open but clicking on the bars seems to reset it anyway... again only once though.
3. Running as Admin still behaves the same way.
It almost seems like something is causing a conflict somewhere.

Thanks for posting back! It looks like it is time to try the next troubleshooting step -- Delete the Preferences file. According to the Help file . . .
The Preferences file is where Elements keeps track of your preferred settings. When you delete this file, Elements will automatically generate a replacement file. The only downside is that the replacement file will have the settings back to the default. This means that you will have to redo any changes you made. For example, if you have rearranged the panels, you will have to do it again because they will be back to their original (default) positions.
As a side note -- Elements has two separate Preferences file, one for the Organizer and one for the Editor. The procedure described below will affect only the Editor's Preferences file.
Go to Edit>Preferences>General (Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>Preferences> . . . on a Mac). Click on the "Reset Preferences on next launch" button. Ignore the "This cannot be undone." warning and click OK. Close Elements and then start it again.

Did just as you said Sepiana but it didn't help.
I didn't think to mention I'm using an Alien laptop with a 4K monitor set to 1920x1080 along with a 24" ASUS set to the same. The laptop has onboard Intel graphics and also a Raedon card. I have no idea if they run at the same time... but I'll test it without the 2nd monitor and see what happens.

reshacker,
Here are a few more suggestions . . .
- Check your computer. Make sure it meets the requirements to run PSE 2018.
Photoshop Elements 2018 System Requirements
- If it does, uninstall/reinstall PSE. When you reinstall it, do it as an Administrator and turn off your antivirus software for the duration of the installation. - You could try using a fresh download.
Download Photoshop Elements | 2018, 15, and 14
If you still continue having all these problems with PSE 2018, I strongly recommend you take the ball to the Adobe field.

Thanks Sepiana. My system is quite good for PSE as it's a gaming computer, so I'll hit the Adobe team if more help is needed.
