I wanted to finish this off as an oval shape, but couldn't do it. What I mean is, an oval instead of the mauve outer square frame.

Is this what you want?
1. Use the Elliptical Marquee tool to draw the oval shape. 2. Place the oval shape on its own layer (Ctrl-J) 3. Ctrl-click on the oval shape layer thumbnail (not on the layer name) to load it as a selection. You will see marching ants around it. 4. Create a new layer. 5. Do Edit>Stroke (Outline) Selection. 6. Delete (or hide) the background layer. 7. Select the .png format when doing Save for Web. This will preserve background transparency.

Thank you so much, sepiana. The shape you have done is perfect for something else I want to try. I had to do a circle this time as I didn't have the room to do oval.
