You've got the right idea with the thought bubble. You used a spooky font and spooky bubble shape, but I agree. It doesn't seem to work. And I don't quite know why.
First thing, I'd straighten it. I'm a super fan of tilting and I see where you are trying to match it to the person, but for some reason the tilt doesn't work for me. Next, maybe the thought bubble should just be an outline instead of a solid.
To get an outline of a shape, Control Click on the thumbnail of the shape layer to get marching ants. Open a new layer above your shape layer and stay on your new layer. Add Stroke . Turn off shape layer and all you will see is the outline.
I hope you can get some other suggestions because I don't quite know what else to suggest. Maybe it's as easy as changing the font and shape to something simpler.

Yes that bubble needs to go, I am looking for a different font and maybe just a plainer bubble, I like the outline idea too.

Here’s my twopence worth…since the subject is thinking…I’d go for an ordinary thought bubble and I’d colour it white with reduced opacity but give it a strong outline. Then I think I’d try something like the ‘Chiller’ font which is kind of spooky or maybe you could look on dafont.com to see if they had any kind of horror fonts which might suit better.
I agree with Janice about straightening those elements.
The page itself is great and I like the various placements of the photos.

I like Lillias' idea of a reduced opacity color in the thought bubble - it would help the text stand out from the background better than not filling the thought bubble.

A fun page with just the slight changes suggested I think you will be ready to move on to the next one. Thanks for sharing them, Jacki.

Jacki - such an improvement. And cute. It's interesting how simple things can change the whole look. Great job.

Yes I think that looks better Jacki. I love all the z z z z'z trailing away. That's a great idea.
