How wonderful to have that picture, Berie! Hope it brings back many happy memories. Your processing works well for this image.

Thanks Helen. Actually, there wasn't any editing I could do. That's the way the old picture was. Daddy took it with his old Kodak with the big bellows. All I did was crop the corners a little. There were some good memories but not walking a mile each way up a dirt road when it was snowing and drifting and the road was completely closed. No such thing as "snow days" back then.

It is fortunate that people took pictures back in the days and actually had them printed (even tho they didn't know how long they would last). One wonders what will become of todays photos taken digitally and never printed out on archival papers.

Thanks for explaining, Berie. I thought perhaps you had added a texture and some hints of color to your image.

Hi Beregaria, About 7 or 8 years ago I spent the best part of 12 months (on and off, but mostly on) restoring family photos that were anywhere between 30 and 70 years old. In case you are not aware, PSE has some really nice tools to restore old photos (remove dust/scratches/creases etc etc). It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun as well and well worth it at the end

Years ago, I knew a lady, who, in the days before colour photography, was an artist who painted colour on to photographs.

Is that one of your ancestors standing by the door ? I often wish at least someone in my family had of been a decent, if even amateur, photographer, with plenty of money for film and developing; alas, they were all so obscenely dirt-poor that such was an extravagance to them.

That's me at the door. I'm 89 now. My father enjoyed taking pictures and there are quite a few that I treasure.

I thought it might be; I am happy for you that you had someone in your family to document such memories on film. I can appreciate how important they are; as, like I already said, picture taking was a rare treat in my family; and, to make matters worse, after my parents divorced, my father married the devil's sister; and, in a fit of jealousy, she burned our family photo collection.
