I would like to put this peacock on a different background. I have tried the magic wand, but that also removes parts of feathers. Can it be done?

Margaret, you could place the peacock image above the background that you want to place it on and then set the blend mode to screen. This will cause all of the black in the peacock image to disappear.

I can't find the blend mode. I tried the help section, but the only blend mode information was in Photoshop CC.

Thank you ever so much. I have just been having another look in the help section. But this wasn't any help at all. I couldn't find a Blending Mode menu.
Specify a blending mode for a layer
Select a layer that you have added, in the Layers panel. Choose an option from the Blending Mode menu.
You have saved my sanity again.

@ Sydney. If this is now suitable, it is going to be put in a clear plastic frame. Standing on a base which has LED lights in it. If it is correct, the result will be stunning.

Margaret....what color background do you want to put it on? I don't see much of a difference between the first and second one. I quickly tried Sydney's suggestion on a blue background:

Helen, while it is subtle, there are hints of green and blue in Margaret's second image.

It will indeed be stunning whippet. I hope it works out for you. Will it stand on a table or will you hang it on the wall?

I'm sorry if I misunderstood what you wanted to do, Margaret. I do see the subtle colors in the background that Sydney pointed out.

I won't be putting it anywhere BJ, it is going to be a gift. hmca - this is the new background. I am hoping that when the light is on it, that the colours will shine through.
