Now had a good beaky around the forum (looks good) and so I thought I'd upload an image. One of my first edits with PSE, this was shot with a Fuji X30 (a little belter of a camera) and processed with the help of the wonderful Nik Colour Efex Pro. Photographed in our back yard Urban Peace and Meditation Garden, it's just a simple image of a dandelion clock. Three o' Clock

Felix, I never realized a dandelion could be so beautiful. Great image! And, once again, . . . welcome to PSE&M!

If it wasn't for the fact that every one of those stalks holds a seed, then I would say that they are beautiful at that stage - especially for photographs.
I also like the effect of the background.

Great DOF! Can't argue with you about Nik Colour Efex - definitely some great filters within the module. Do you have any favs or 'go tos' that you tend to use? Which one did you use for this image?

it's just a simple image of a dandelion clock. Three o' Clock Good job on the picture. That being said, maybe it is obvious and I am just not seeing it; what is this "clock" business; and; what specifically makes it "Three o' Clock" ? Thank you.

maybe it is obvious and I am just not seeing it; what is this "clock" business; and; what specifically makes it "Three o' Clock" ? It's a children's game here in the UK - when the dandelion goes to seed, it's picked and the seeds are blown off - the first blow is one o' clock and so on. When there are no seeds left on the dandelion, usually 5 or six blows, then you have the time. It's not very accurate and nowhere near as good as a Rolex. TBH I have no idea whether or not kids still play this game - although there may be a Dandelion Clock app available!

Thanks for enlightening me; we played a lot of silly games, but that is a new one on me. In this neck of the woods, since the advent of the cellular phone, we have a couple generations that cannot tell time with a clock that has hands; my understanding is that they haven't emphasized it in school in a long time; a few years ago, they quit teaching/requiring cursive writing as well; in a few more generations, they will have to have specialists to translate our constitution. Then, since Velcro, they no longer teach kids how to tie their shoes either.

Great DOF! Can't argue with you about Nik Colour Efex - definitely some great filters within the module. Do you have any favs or 'go tos' that you tend to use? Which one did you use for this image? Sydney - I didn't mean to ignore your question, I made a mental note to respond and then a prolonged senior moment kicked in. Sorry! I have a few 'recipes' that I go to for most photographs, but my all time favourite is one I found on the web called Detail and Vignette. If you let me know how to do it, I'll send it to you and you can then load into Nik Color Efex. It's a very tiny file - 2kb in fact. Hope that helps.

After reading this, I did a quick search for "Detail and Vignette" and found this: lightroomkillertips.com/my-most-used-nik-color-efex-pro-4-recipe/On that page is a download link to receive the free recipe in a zip-file; however, I tried both Chrome and FireFox and the download link does not work for me. Could this be the recipe that you mention ?

BuckSkin / Sydney Try this DropBox link - if I've done it right, you should be able to download a folder with two very tiny files. Both files are Nik Color Efex presets. Matt's Nik Recipes
Let me know whether or not it works - I'm not too sure when it comes to DropBox.

Here is what I did: When the link opened, it was a page with the two files shown in the center; at this point I had no idea what to do; I saw that I could click on each file; did that and a little menu appeared with some download options; I chose "Direct Download" and in seconds it arrived. I didn't have to sign in or anything.

Thanks Felix for the link to the recipes. I will have to download and try them out. My fav filters in the Color Efex collection are the various contrast filters, especially tonal contrast.
