In LR and PSE I can brighten the shadows which helps a lot. Apart from that, or time consuming dodging and burning, has anyone found a technique to brighten the really dark parts of the faces in group shots?
I did find a tutorial which can be adapted to PSE but it has limited use with strong shadows across the face. www.photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/photo-retouching/digital-flash/
Has anyone has found a useful technique in these situations? Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Kind regards Chris

Thank you for your very helpful answers. I will check out those tutorials and carefully work through them and see how I get on. Being realistic though, I think I can improve the way the shadows look but will not be able to remove them or expect a studio shot under those conditions.
Kind regards Chris.

Chris, you are most welcome! Give those tutorials a chance! Post back if you have any further questions about this kind of post-processing.
