ATTENTION!!!
There is no longer a "next Sunday" posting deadline. You can grab your camera, take your photo, and post it in this thread any time you wish to.
Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.
NOTE
You should have plenty of leeway with this week’s theme. Think machines, engines, motors, etc., etc.!

This is the boiler on a preserved, still running paddle steamer. "Boiler" (Enlargement is clearer) "Emmylou" (Enlargement is clearer)

It's wheat harvesting time here too and I had thought about a combine but they were pulling the pump from an oil well for cleaning across from the wheat field so I'll go with that instead - the oil well is over 100 years old, not very productive and the equipment being used is not much younger but it works most of the time and a barrel of oil a day is better than nothing! preview.ibb.co/kLb2mo/1919_Domain_MB_9_A.jpgThis was taken 99 years ago in Manitoba, where my Dad worked. We have come a long way, when you compare the previous picture of the modern combine with a single operator, and this with somewhere between 8 - 10 men, that would accomplish about 20% of the productivity!

This is the Burgh Island sea tractor. Burgh Island is off the Devon coast, and is famous for having a hotel which is cut off by the tide twice a day. In its hey day it had a lot of famous visitors, including Agatha Christie who wrote and set a couple of her books there. It is still a luxury hotel today. When the tide is in, access is by this specially built machine, of which this is the third since 1969. The sea water comes up to just above the tyres. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgh_Islandfarm2.staticflickr.com/1783/41599059880_a754542ac8_c.jpg

@ Alex. A film was made about Agatha Christie's stay at the hotel. I saw the sea tractor on that. I am sure it has been featured in another film since then.

Peterj , great interpretation of this week's theme. This is definitely something mechanical. I really like the human "presence" in your shot and the vintage colors.

Rick, what an amazingly clear shot! We can easily see the two people inside that machinery. Great job!
