While Mrs B. and I visited a trout farm recently, we came across this tree near the farm's kiosk. I couldn't get close enough with my 17-70mm Sigma lens to blur out the uninteresting background so I had to do it in post processing.

Pretty birds Bailey. You did well on the background. Sure pays to schlep along a couple of lenses, eh? Unless on a specific mission (i.e. where one lens will be enough), I rarely go anywhere without two lenses: 24-105 and 70-400....so am covered for focal length. A pain sometimes for sure. You have such the pretty critters in Oz. (Not saying a word about your snakes though! ) Clive

Thanks Clive When travelling I take my main camera bag with all my gear in it. But for day trips, as this was, where the camera mainly comes along for the ride, I like to travel light. The 17-70 is plenty wide for any landscapes or for confined spaces like a small restaurant or whatever, with a little bit of telephoto if needed. My Tamron 150-600 is too big to lug around unless I'm sure I am going to use it.

I like the effect of your message background, too.
It is so sad, that in this country, beautiful birds like that are kept caged.

Thank you whippet The black frame, text, drop shadow and green background is set using BBCODE. I selected a greenish background colour to match the predominant colour of the birds and part of the blurred background in the image Major Major has previously posted an introductory tutorial on BBCODE.
