This is the view from the Mt. Buffallo Chalet Lookout in Victoria. Near the top right hand corner is the snow capped Mt. Bogong in the Alpine National Park. Mt. Bogong is the highest "mountain" in Victoria at 1986m above sea level. All stitching and editing was done in PSE 14. |

Nice pano. Very verdant. The high shooting position works well. [Our hills have a titch more snow in dead of winter.  ] Clive |

"1986 above sea level" ... But at 36° south latitude and about 175 km from the Tasman Sea. "My" Livingstine Range here: image.ibb.co/bLssGo/canola_livingstone_CAS04716.jpg ... ... is only 1,872 m, but at 49° north lat and continental, being 900 km from the Pacific Ocean. It is generally snow covered from Oct/Nov until May/June and had some snow until July ... just disappeared a couple of weeks ago. That photo was take July 11 .and there was one snow patch remaining. It will have fresh snow on it in Sept that is likely to melt before permanent winter snow. Winter is okay, but last winter was so cold (all sorts of cold records broken) and was so long. We hope to get away next winter. Geography is interesting, wot?  Clive |

Hi Clive - unfortunately geography has never been my strong point, but yes I do understand that the further you move from the equator, the colder it gets
Thank you Sydney Feel free to come on down. There is plenty to see and do in the Victorian High Country. On the same day I took the photos from Mt. Buffalo, we stopped "down the road" at Sullivans Lookout (view panorama). The view from Sullivans Lookout is what is to the right of the Mt. Buffalo panorama above. At Sullivans Lookout Mt. Bogong is on the left. |
