It's worth mentioning that it's no doubt because a new version is right around the corner.

Of course it's on sale! After wandering here and there for awhile, I have returned to PSE, upgraded to 2018, and paid full price a few days ago!

Thanks Sepiana. As posted elsewhere here, I bought PSE 2018 specifically because of the new camera but PSE 2018/ACR does not support my model. As Sepiana wrote they will add my cam when the new version is released. Not overly happy, but what can you do? I still like PSE for ease of use and versatility. Normally, I don't do a lot to photos and don't do arty design stuff as so many here do ... and do a fine job! Clive

Since I'm content with PSE 8 and Darktable (open source alternative to Lightroom) with one exception. This looks like what I want. My biggest perceived need (want) is the ability to make HDR images blended from three to five (or more) of the same view using bracketed photos. Do the new PSE's like 2018 do a good job with this blending technique?

Is there any discount for existing Elements owners if they upgrade to a newer version? I've been thinking of grabbing this one before the sale ends, but then also had the thought that if I buy a new camera, it won't have file definitions for a new camera and I'd need to upgrade again.

Too bad they don't say how to get it or how much the discount is.

Too bad they don't say how to get it or how much the discount is. When you purchase it directly from Adobe, you are quoted two prices -- Full and Upgrade. If you choose the Upgrade price, in the purchasing process you are required to identify which Elements product you own from a drop-down menu for the "I already own" box. These prices have been the same since at least PSE 11.
Full Price -- $99.99 Upgrade Price -- $79.99
NOTE: The Adobe website is also offering the same deal as the one on Amazon -- 40% off. It expires on September 4. No boxed version though!

So to clarify, the discount for prior owners is only on the full list price, and that discount price is more than the current sale price. Correct?

Yes, that's correct. It is not really the best deal. One can find better prices by going to online and local authorized Adobe retailers when they offer PSE on sale.

Thanks Sepiana. Got few hours left to decide. Seems like a very good price for what you are getting.

Thanks Sepiana. I did manage to get a boxed copy on last day of the sale. I'm hoping that they will give a free upgrade to 2019 for purchases in September. My previous version was for PSE12. I had been in there $10/month for LR and Photoshop but got tired of paying for something I might not use for months at a time. I switched to ON1 2018.5.
