Lillias, This Filter can apply a Texture with Relief in a single setting.
I'm not quite sure that it is good for much use, but it certainly is a curiosity. Please click to enlarge.

Rita, what you could do is duplicate your original layer, apply the filter effect on the duplicated layer and then experiment with different blend modes and opacities on that layer. You might be surprised what you come up with.

Thank you Rita for doing this that’s very kind of you. You have achieved a better or more noticeable effect than I did when I tried it for myself. I will have a play with it again tomorrow but as of now I don’t think it’s something I would use a lot if at all.
EDIT: Just seen Sydney’s post. I never thought of doing that and I should have because I know that using blend modes can make a difference. Thank you for the suggestion Sydney.

You might be surprised what you come up with. Sydney, I discovered this years ago and played around with it in all kinds of ways, but I've never actually used an image with this effect. On the whole I like my pictures to be as clean and clear as possible.

Lillias, I should have known that you had already figured it out for yourself. BTW the filter shows a deeper effect if applied to a high resolution image. It can then be resized fairly well.

I never knew what the underpainting filter was all about. Thanks for the explanation. I tried it on a portrait of my granddaughter, limiting it to the background. I think it made a subtle faux shallow DOF. preview.ibb.co/dq0nz9/claudia_9_22_18_PSE_M.jpg
