It took me a while to catch on to this little handy trick and thus far I have been able to get it to work in every one of our programs save for Elements 7 ( on all of our machines, so it is not a system problem ); slide the side bars over against the edge of the image.
Doing thus allows better visibility of the palette contents.
Alas, there must be a bug in Elements 7; as, when I mouse over the palette bin's left edge, the little two-way set of arrows appear, along with the message "adjust palette bin size"; however, all I can get is it either disappears to the right, or reappears back to the exact same space-wasting position that it has been ever since we installed it.
I have tried every means of grabbing and sliding the bin's edge that I could think of, including right-clicking; whatever I do, the bin immediately disappears to the right.
Is there a fix for this ?
