Available today Sept 27 2018= ACR 10.3 update for PSE2018 Rather unexpected since the new PSE 2019 should be available very soon. On the other hand, ACR for Photoshop is at 10.5 since a few months.

That's good news michelb
I'm still running ACR 9.5 in PSE 14. I'll wait until PSE 2019 is released. Maybe we'll get ACR 10.5?

Michel, thanks for the heads-up! I am really surprised at this ACR update. Quite unusual!

This update was available for my laptop installation with Win 10 but not for my desktop installation which has Mac High Sierra.
I must say that the availability of this update makes me wonder if there will be a PSE 2019.
Adobes' past actions with Lightroom have made me cynical I guess.

I just checked for updates all up to date - ACR plugin version = 10.1.0.864
Does ACR need to be active to have it updated? Something else I'm missing?

Does ACR need to be active to have it updated? Something else I'm missing? I already had ACR 10.2 installed and I was prompted to update to 10.3 when opening the organizer. I don't know why you can't update to 10.3.
I am on Win 10, you are on Win7 ?
By the way, the bug to look at 'About Plugins' which closes PSE is still there. You have to be once in ACR to see the real version on the top line.

Win 7 in my case; I seldom use the Organizer usually launch Editor directly, I just launched and went directly to about plugins; which btw has never closed the editor on my pc.
I'll post back later with results of launching Organizer & checking plugins
====================Update====================
Launched Organizer, opened file in ACR, checked About Plugins >> found no change from above

You have to be once in ACR to see the real version on the top line. With this I think michelb means the top line of the ACR window, not in "About Plugins"

Pete,
That's the same way I usually check the ACR update version -- Editor>Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw. It worked just fine in earlier versions of PSE. Unfortunately, a bug has been introduced in PSE 2018. If you do that, the Editor will crash and PSE 2018 will shut down. The workaround is . . . first open an image in the Raw Converter, bring it into the Editor, and (close it if you want to). Voilà! Now you will be able to check the ACR version.
This bug was reported on the Adobe Feedback forum.

Hi Sepiana, ... The workaround is . . . first open an image in the Raw Converter, bring it into the Editor, and (close it if you want to). Voilà! Now you will be able to check the ACR version. ... Just out of curiosity, once the image is open in ACR why can't you just read its version number in the top line/bar of the ACR window as michelb suggests? Will the version number in the top line be different to what you would see after doing the extra steps of bringing the image to the editor? I would expect the 2 to be the same number, so I don't see why you would need to bring an image into the editor.

The version number only appears on the top line if you are NOT in the full screen view of the ACR module. Click on the small icon on the right part of the icon bar on the top (next to the histogram) to toggle between full screen or Window mode. I did not pay attention to that displaying difference until I started that discussion...

Thank you michelb
For anyone not sure which icon michelb is referring to, you can see it in the screenshot I posted earlier.

I find it to be a drawback though.
The advantage of going to Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw is that this feature is available in all the three editing modes -- Quick, Guided, Expert.

I agree. Not showing the ACR version in full screen ACR is not exactly a bug, but a definitively bad Interface choice.

Hi Sepiana,
that one-click "drawback" is very easily overcome. My ACR opens by default in non-fullscreen mode so I see the version number in the top line every time I open an image in ACR.
