Thank you for clarifying Sepiana and no I didn't miss the point at all.
I actually received a query from a non member who saw your post and is looking to upgrade away from one of the free image editor applications.
It is totally reasonable for someone totally new to PSE to have assumed from your wording that a trial version is different to a full version. I told her I believed it was the same and that I would post a query to confirm.
If the wording would have been "Fortunately it was a trial." or similar, it would have been much clearer for her and most possibly other newbies to PSE as well.
Thanks again for clarifying.

PSE 2019 has a new feature in the editors Expert mode: Text tracking. It increases or decreases the space between letters. It's in the Text mode. Video: PSE2019 Tracking Uploader: DigitalScrapper Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcbQiczNdzwHi Moto, Oops! I almost missed your post. Welcome back! Hadn’t seen you here for quite a while.
Yes, this is probably the best new feature in PSE 2019. Thanks for the link!
I remember, in past releases of Elements, you always shared your "findings" with us. Hopefully you will do so for PSE 2019 as well. Looking forward to your contributions!

Bailey, I did not find anything misleading in what Sepiana said, but your experience is a warning for anyone wanting to help beginners. You carefully choose your words to be true and understandable, but those words appear to be totally skipped by the reader. Reading too quickly is part of the issue, but the hard fact is not that you are not understood, you are not believed.
I am not a teacher, but I admire the patience needed to repeat and rephrase the information or the argument to dismiss: - misconceptions (color management, subscription model...)
- urban legends - outdated Web information
- paranoia. Adobe, Microsoft, Apple, Google... do that only to annoy you. Any missing feature is a personal 'insult', as they say in the LR CC feedback forum.
- meaningless never ending arguments to have the last word. - ...
I have often wanted to write an introduction to the organizer in the same way as the 'Lightroom Queen' has done for Ligthroom. Unfortunately, I don't have the talent to do so and I believe that it would be like the necessity of making backups. Such an intro would only be read after the catastrophe.

Hi michelb,
to be honest I am having difficulty seeing the point you are trying to make . I was pretty sure there is no separate trial version for the reason I posted but not being an expert on PSE 2019 I posted a query on behalf of a non-member who queried me about it.
I thanked Sepiana for her clarification and the person who made the initial query to me has seen the posts. All is good now as the query was resolved

Not sure what you're on about, Bailey. Sepiana's post was perfectly clear.

Well I upgraded, and so far so good; in fact, the problem I had with my images crowding themselves into the upper lefthand corner, seems to be resolved (....apparently this happened as a result of the Windows update....). Performance seems the same. Note that you need to copy your plug-in shortcuts from your Elements18 plug-in directory to your Elements 19; otherwise they will not show up.
p.s. I still have my Elements2018 in case something goes wrong.

... Not sure what you're on about, Bailey. Sepiana's post was perfectly clear. Hi Major Major, Thank you for your opinion, but I assume you are directing your query to the non-member who first queried it with me and to anyone else, members and/or non members, who also didn't see it as clearly. When I read this: ... My friend is fortunate because he got the free trial version so that he could test the waters (as I advised him to do). If it doesn't work for him, no harm done. It would have been different if had purchased PSE 2019 without trying it first. Yes, he could get his money back but he would have to go through the whole process. ... I can totally understand why someone (members or non members visiting this site) might think there is a separate trial version when in fact it is actually a 30 day trial of the full version. In the past, I have seen many examples of actual trial versions where software vendors offer versions without the full suite of features/functionality. hth
Update: I can see the non-member has posted their reply to your comment else where. Feel free to take it up with her there. (Courtesy tip: put on your safety helmet )

Bailey -
I've already made my opinion pretty clear.

no problem Major Major
and I see some of the people (non members as far as I know) for who the post was not clear and that your opinion was related to and directed at (assuming it wasn't meant to be directed at me specifically) have replied and commented on elsewhere.
This matter is now closed for me as I am not going to waste my time being a messenger for you. People can read posts for themselves and comment/reply as they see fit wherever they like without me being involved as "the middle man"

Better look at what Adobe says and what Adobe really does.
Fact #1 : Adobe invests a lot in Elements and is clear about the new place it will have in its product range. An entry point for beginners and a test platform for automatic intelligence.
Fact #2 : Adobe is free to change its mind in the future. Who can tell? Fact #3 : Old "Elements" as you are used to may not be dead (I hope so), but its future versions may be "dead" for you. You are the expert to judge.
