The problem is that everything is changing around Photoshop Elements.
You are free to wait for an update which is worth the trouble.
But, while your present Elements version won't change, everything around it will change.
- the OS version
- your hardware (display, printer driver, graphic processors, the raw format of your new camera... and much more)
- you'll get new features, new bug fixes.
- you'll get better performance.
In the present case, you'll get incompatibilities with external softwares, namely Map providers.
- Adobe did drop Yahoo for Google.
- People were generally not satisfied with Google, mainly because they did not agree to the places hierarchy in Google.
- Google abruptly ceased support or older APIs last year with versions before PSE15. PSE15 was not hit, since it used the new APIs.
- after a few months, they finally supported those older versions again.
- Now, versions before PSE15 and PSE2018 don't work again, and probably won't never be supported.
- PSE15 and PSE2018 are still supported with the new APIs. How much that does cost to Adobe is not known.
- PSE2019 has dropped Google for obvious reasons.
- We are getting the same complaints about the place hierarchy from the new free (and probably more future proof solution).
- Adobe is not alone with problems with Google. People using Geosetter for better geotagging are facing the same issues...
