I have PSE 15, a new iPhone Xs, and late 2016 MacBook Pro with Mojave, Photos and the External Photos Editor. I just now have time to do more editing of old photos I'm getting ready to pass on to my children and grandchildren over past 40 years. I have the same problem as always. I can get my photos to open in PSE from Photos through the External Editor usually easily, but can't get them back into Photos directly. I have to save somewhere and re-import them.
1) Is there a link to a post on this web site that can tell me how to do this? I know there can be a problem with the file type (jpg, jpeg, PSD maybe others) but it there is a way to solve this easily I have never understood it.
2) Is it any easier to transport photos with the newer PSE 18 or 19. I'm perfectly willing to upgrade if so.
Thanks
Carl

There was a series of posts about a year ago and my recent one of the last few days. I can not get any of those suggestions to work for me. And, if it is a matter of making sure all the file types are synchronized, it probably is easier for me to export to the desktop and then reimport into Photos. If anyone here has a simple workflow that works I would like to see it. If not well???
Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Carl, I did more checking into this issue. It looks like that's the way Photos work. According to Frank, a very knowledgeable Mac/PS/PSE user, . . .
The Photos from Photo are stored in a "package" similar to a folder, hard to find even harder to open. The bottom line - unless you are extremely well verses on MAC, this will be a very comber sum process. If you are well versed on a MAC it is still comber sum. From PSE you need to do a save as to a location (folder, desktop). Then do an import to photos. You cannot save from elements or photoshop to the photos library as it is not a standard folder.

Thank you. I’ll take your suggestion about PSE 19 trial. I’m not optimistic. Carl
