Hi, I have 5 images numbered 1-5 of which are all the same size, this would be 200x700 pixels
I import them into PSE9,select New,Photomerge Panorama. I have Auto selected then i click on Add open files then select OK. PSE9 then does what it needs to do but i then see a message Panorama could not be created as some images could not be automatically aligned ??
So i only import this time 1-4 & do the same process but i see the same message. So i then try it with 1-3 then 1-2 etc etc but i see the same message.
I even try without auto and select say Reposition but still the same.
Any advice please. Thanks Update, After i click ok to the message on the screen i notice that i can still see my image tabs number 1,2,3,4 & 5 & a new one which is shown as untitled. This untitled image is my number 5 image,i assume that this untitled image should be my 1-5 images stitched together ??

Sometimes error messages aren't very useful.
Let's start with some basics:
1. Are these all photos you took with the same camera? 2. Did you use a tripod while shooting? 3. Is there plenty of overlap (25-30%) between the photos?

Hi, I have divided a photo into 5 equal sections. Then carried out the process as mentioned above

Why would you divide a photo into 5 sections in order to stitch it back together again? As a test?
In any case, I don't think you can do it that way. The process requires EXIF information from each of the photos in the panorama.

Ok thanks.
Yes as a test.
You mention exit data then that explains why it only creates one layer mask etc.
I will try again with actually taking 5 photos.

Also, for best results use the same exposure settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) for each shot.
If shooting in portrait orientation I suggest around 50% overlap.
If hand holding your camera, you will probably need to straighten the images to make sure vertical and horizontal lines are consistent in the images. Otherwise the stitching algorithm will make assumptions during the stitching which might not produce a level panorama.

There may be other reasons for the error message you mentioned in your OP but I believe Craig is on the right track. See if this will help.

I am not convinced PSE uses exif data.
I have stitched images people have sent to me with just minimal exif data via "Save for Web".
If you have no overlap in your images, you will definitely see the error message you described.

Hi, I have divided a photo into 5 equal sections. Then carried out the process as mentioned above If you just want to do a test, breaking up an image into equal parts will not work because there will be no overlap. Try breaking up the image so that you have about 30% overlap between consecutive images.
